MSouth Closes the Acquisition of Summit Spine & Joint Centers

Atlanta, GA (June 2, 2021) – MSouth Equity Partners, an Atlanta-based private equity firm, announced the closing of its newest investment. In partnership with the company’s management team and existing sponsor (Fulcrum Equity Partners), MSouth completed the acquisition of Summit Spine & Joint Centers (“Summit” or the “Company”).

Summit is a leading provider of interventional pain management services in Georgia. Headquartered in Lawrenceville, GA, Summit manages and operates 9 Ambulatory Surgery Centers (“ASCs”) and 17 clinics across Northwest Georgia. The Company was founded in 2014 to provide patients with high-quality, patient-focused comprehensive treatments. Summit delivers high touch practice management solutions while supporting clinical autonomy to help physicians deliver the highest level of care across the practice lifecycle and focus on the unique needs of their patients.

Chronic pain conditions occur from a variety of causes, including chronic disease, aging, sports injury, workplace injury and accidents. Traditional pain management has been focused on treating patients who suffer from chronic pain through the use of prescription medications. Interventional pain management has emerged as a way to treat patients using minimally invasive procedures to treat pain at the root cause.

“We are excited to partner with MSouth to expand our footprint throughout the Southeastern U.S. Their management partnership philosophy, local presence, and experience in building and scaling similar types of businesses made MSouth a great fit for our team and the business,” said Dr. Amit Patel, founder and CEO of Summit. “We are confident this partnership will support our continued growth and success.”

“The Summit team has built a scalable platform with best-in-class operations and patient care,” said Peter Pettit, Partner, MSouth Equity Partners. “Summit’s exceptional provider base, proven de novo strategy, and commitment to quality make it well-positioned to grow into a major regional platform. We look forward to partnering with the Summit team and participating in the company’s next phase of growth.”

MSouth Equity Partners is a private equity investment firm that provides equity capital and expertise to support management teams in acquisitions and recapitalizations of lower middle market companies typically valued between $25 and $250 million. With more than $2.2 billion under management across four funds, MSouth is a successor to Cravey, Green & Wahlen, Inc., which was founded in 1984.
